GRUMBLES FARM – SELF BUILD HOUSE
Grumbles Farm, a new self build home in Shepton Mallet, Somerset
Detailed Planning Permission was secured in 2010 for this new three storey, 5 bedroom timber frame sustainable home on the development limits of a village in the Mendips, near Frome. The site is in a great location with picturesque views of the open countryside. Constructed of local larch timber cladding, reclaimed natural stone walling and clay tiled roofing. Recycled paper was used for the thermal insulation and, together with renewables and other energy efficiency devices, a Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4 was achieved. Completed in 2013 for only £170,000 made it an ideal self build starter home which was featured with
NaCSBA at Eco Build and displayed at
Homebuilding and Renovating Shows. Over the years we have now assisted and found sites for many clients wishing to move out of the city and escape to the country.
