New social housing for community housing trust, Stourhead Western Estate, in Stourton, Wiltshire
Set on a sloping site the new houses are partially below ground at the front and two storey at the rear. The design makes the most of the splendid views to the south with large windows and balconies overlooking the woodlands of the Stourhead Estate. Locally sourced western red cedar wall cladding blends the four houses into the countryside setting. The sustainable design is enhanced with south facing PV panelled roofs generating renewable energy, keeping running costs low. When vacant these houses are available at an affordable rent with the Stourhead (Western) Estate

    That looks rather lovely…!

  2. Jo Lilford says:

Brilliant scheme for affordable housing. I wish more local authorities would take note. Low cost, sustainable builds don’t have to have the design sucked out of them.
