Title: The Georgian Country, Listed Building Refurbishment
Location: Stoke St Michael, Somerset
Client: Private
Detailed Planning Permission and Listed Building Consent for the refurbishment and restoration of a Georgian House. The Conservation Officer initially objected to the proposals, and insisted that the new windows should be 2 panel Victorian sash windows rather than 12 panel Georgian sash windows. However our extensive research and a Heritage Report persuaded the Planning Authority, Mendip Distinct Council to approve the alterations on condition that we completed full size details of the new windows and doors which were then approved. Overall the changes are a vast improvement to the appearance of the house and it has become an attractive focal point in the Somerset village of Stoke St Michael.
