Sustainable HouseA new house, near Frome in Wiltshire, adjacent to the Longleat Estate
Replacing an existing cottage this is a new traditional stone, render and timber house designed and built as a modern sustainable home for a poet and his wife leaving London for the country. The site is fantastic – adjacent to the Longleat Estate it has great views over an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. An ancient oak tree acts as its namesake and focal point of the design and is seen through big picture windows and folding doors. Planning Permission for a new house in open countryside was a challenge but successful. Working with good local builders the house was completed to a high quality at an affordable price. The eco house was featured with NASBA at ecobuild and shown at the Bath and South West Homebuilding and Renovating Show.
