New House, Nr Longleat
Title: Oak
Location: East Woodlands, Nr Longleat
Client: Private
Project: New House
Year: 2011
A new traditional stone, render and timber cottage designed and built as a sustainable house. The open site is fantastic – adjacent to the Longleat Estate it has great views over an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. An ancient oak tree acts as its namesake and focal point of the design and is seen through big picture windows and folding doors.
The scheme was developed from sketches through to detailed drawings and a difficult Planning Approval gained successfully for a new house in open countryside. Then technical drawings and specifications for a Code 3 Sustainable Home where prepared and Building Control Approval received. Working with good quality local builders the house is nearing completion on time and within budget.
