New House, Longleat
Title: Oak
Location: East Woodlands, Longleat
Client: Private
Project: New House
Year: 2012
A new traditional stone, render and timber cottage designed and built as a modern sustainable home. The site is fantastic – adjacent to t
he Longleat Estate it has great views over an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. An ancient oak tree acts as its namesake and focal point of the design and is seen through big picture windows and folding doors. Planning Permission for a new house in open countryside was a challenge but successful. A Code 3 Sustainable Home was designed and built and selected as an exemplar eco house for
ecobuild. Working with good local builders the house was recently completed to a high quality.
