Passivhaus, Bristol

Passivhaus BristolTitle: The Passivhaus House
Location: Nailsea, North Somerset
Client: Private
Project: Four Oaks, New Sustainable Home
Last year we successfully obtained Planning Permission for the first Passivhaus in North Somerset. Our cost analysis calculated that it would be more cost effective to replace the existing bungalow with a new energy efficient sustainable house rather than extend and refurbish the existing bungalow. A timber frame with well insulated walls and roof will achieve high performance thermal values of at least 0.12 W/m2K. Air tightness will be no greater than 0.6 air changes / hr @ n50. Mechanical Ventilation Heat Recovery [MVHR] will provide fresh air, climate control and environment comfort and together with PV panels low energy usage will be achieved without the need for heating. Construction work nearing completion. It has
been a challenge managing the rigorous construction as Passivhaus Certification requires meticulous attention to detail and air tight construction. Featured on the Passivhaus Trust web site. Working together with specialist Passivhaus consultant Piers Sadler.
