White Cube Art Gallery in Bermondsey, London, for Jay Jopling.
An existing 1970’s warehouse transformed to provide exhibition spaces, private viewing rooms, auditorium, educational facilities and bookshop. The industrial appearance is adopted and enhanced into a contemporary design through the use of raw materials such as polished concrete flooring and steel framework. Internally the simple plan is divided to create an interesting mix and sequence of gallery rooms for visitors to view artworks under varying light. The space is flexible with large wall sections that open to easily move art pieces between galleries for changing exhibitions.  RIBA Design Award winner and ‘Excellence in Design’ awarded by the American Institute of Architects.
