Location: Coleford, Somerset
Client: Private
Project Type / Sector: Summerhouse
Year: 2009
The existing garden shed was not suitable as a habitable room so a more permanent structure was designed as a garden room that could be used for both living and working.
The building is extremely well insulated and has underfloor heating. In addition to the main office space, there is also a shower room with shower, WC and sink.
The garden site is positioned on a prominent hillside location and surrounded by a variety of traditional architecture.
Whilst the summerhouse was designed to act as a subtle contemporary contrast in time it will blend into the hillside through the use of natural and sustainable materials such as timber cladding and a sedum grass roof. Completed on site September 2009.
