The existing building was in a poor state having been redundant for many years until Frome Town Council wanted to regenerate Victoria Park using the Edwardian tea house as a focal point.
Careful restoration, together with new windows and folding doors, created an attractive cafe interior that opens out for tea in the park. The flexible space also allows the tea room to be used for different purposes, such as a venue for the Frome Festival.
Lotty Evans and Annie McCarthy of Balmoral Catering run the popular cafe together with their successful cafe at the Cheese and Grain.
