Location: Victoria Park, Frome

Client: Frome Town Council

Type: Public / Community

Year: 2009

The existing building was in a poor state having been redundant for many years until Frome Town Council wanted to regenerate Victoria Park using the Edwardian tea house as a focal point.

Careful restoration, together with new windows and folding doors, created an attractive cafe interior that opens out for tea in the park. The flexible space also allows the tea room to be used for different purposes, such as a venue for the Frome Festival.

Lotty Evans and Annie McCarthy of Balmoral Catering run the popular cafe together with their successful cafe at the Cheese and Grain.

Location: Coleford, Somerset

Client: Coleford Gospel Hall Trust

Project Type / Sector: Community / Church

Year: 2008

Planning Permission and Building Control Approval was granted for a large extension to the front and two smaller side ‘wing’ extensions to the existing Gospel Hall. The extra space provided accommodation for community meetings and a pre-school.

Different materials were considered including timber cladding or brickwork to match existing. Work completed Summer 2009.

On completion the client said – ‘Just to say a big thank you for your contribution and all your hard work in the Gospel Hall project. We are very pleased with the result.’
