THE OLD VICARAGE – PRIVATE HOUSING DEVELOPMENT

The Old Vicarage, a development of seven houses in Bruton, South Somerset
The development comprises of the conversion of an Old Vicarage and two other existing buildings formally used as a boarding house for Bruton School for Girls.  The site is in a lovely location just outside the Somerset town of Bruton, on a hillside in a woodlands setting. Planning Permission was given by South Somerset District Council to convert the buildings into seven family houses of high quality design. Sympathetic restoration of the stone built Old Vicarage heritage building is at the core of the proposals and is seen as the focal point of the development. Whereas the other two less appealing blocks, constructed in the 1960s and 1980s, are greatly improved through a mixed pallet of stone, render and timber wall cladding giving a fresh and contemporary edge to the development. The addition of  a second floor to one block and extensions to other buildings provides additional accommodation and creates spacious modern houses in the much sought after location of Bruton near the Hauser & Wirth art gallery and the Newt in Somerset gardens. Construction complete and houses are for sale.
