Project: Cribhouse Farm Barn Conversion
Location: Wedmore, Somerset
Client: Developer
Under National Planning Policy for General Permitted Development Order [GPDO] we are about to convert this existing agricultural barn into a new contemporary two storey dwelling without the need for planning permission. Planning permission tripled the value of the land and has proved to be worthwhile investment. The national GPDO regulations are complex and are being interpreted in different ways by Local Planning Authorities and planning permission is proving difficult to obtain. However we enjoy a challenge and we have learnt ways to overcome these local restrictions and are using this legalisation to our advantage as a means of successfully designing and building new houses in countryside locations. We have now successfully completed several of these GPDO projects.
